Mindset 101
Conversation with Yourself
While talking to a woman, who I met at a conference
several weeks ago, when she was going through all the conference material on a
break she shed some light on mindset. I struck up a conversation with her and
she said, "My mind has got to get right to do all this" I quote this
because you an I and most likely every woman you know has said this to
themselves because if the mind is not right, then forget it. Just put the
brakes on whatever it is you are attempting to do and that includes living your
One Jazzy Life. Mindset is tough because you have expectations that have not
been met even when you have put forth your best effort. You have others who may
not be supporting you when you think they should. You have a host of decisions
you made, which turned out to be not so good. Who the hell cares!! You did
the best you could at the time, NOW is all
you can control. Choose to let all of that "sxxt" go and begin being
who you want to be every minute, hour and day of your life. Take small steps,
you may want to start with something like taking a fifteen minute walk, just
for you, to get used to all the good that can come from taking a stand for
yourself.
The Jazzy Journey Confidence Transformation System
is personalized and I invite you to reply to this email to schedule time a
complimentary 30 minute One Jazzy Life
Discovery Session to start the process of gaining confidence
in your ability to invest your time to reflect your One Jazzy Life Agenda.
Conversation with Mentee
In your mentoring conversations with young ladies,
you have probably noticed how closely linked mindset is to how successful these
young ladies are in their endeavors. While I am coaching young ladies who
participate in the Jazzy Journey Confidence Transformation Program I use the
"I am" method of setting mindset. Then we work to build confidence in
that particular skill. For example, I was coaching several young ladies who
were to speak in front of a group at an awards ceremony. These girls were
saying, "I am going to fall down on stage, I am not going to speak
clearly, I am going to be too nervous." Do you notice the "I am"
pattern? From then on we began the mindset session with "I am....."
and the girls put in different things like "speaking confidently",
"not going to fall" and not going to mumble. Then we practiced which
built courage and confidence. The day of the event went smoothly. They totally
rocked it.
As always, share your experience with working on
your mindset and how you practiced to build courage and confidence and what the
results were, positive or not so positive. Experiences are good to share.
If you have a group of high school or middle school
girls that you think could benefit from increasing confidence by learning
cutting edge communication strategies to manage perceptions, improve speaking
and much more, check out my movement WHY WAIT. I
will be launching an online summer training real soon. The mission is to get
young people dreaming, speaking and performing like there is a bright future
for them to be a part of.
